My students come from a wide variety of diverse cultural backgrounds. My students also speak a multitude of languages. My students also come from different economic backgrounds, over 90% of them receive free lunch. Although my students come from so many backgrounds, they all come to school eager to learn each and every day. They work so hard trying to read and write. They also love to learn math, social studies, and science! They are a wonderful, hard-working group of students.
My Project
My first grade students come to school eager to learn! I would love to implement STEM bins into their daily schedule! These STEM bins will be used for morning work, early finishers, and incentives. Building supplies, such as, building blocks, wooden planks, magnetic tiles and foam balls will allow my students to be critical thinkers. They will get to create different buildings and pieces architecture.
Not only will my students be critical thinkers, but they will be encouraged to work collaboratively in STEM challenges!
STEM teaches students about the engineering process.
The engineering process sends a very important message to my students: If at first you don't succeed, try again! My students will experience different outcomes, where they will have to decide whether or not their project was a success. Having these building supplies will greatly benefit my first grade students!
