Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you." -B.B. King- This is something my class lives by! It is well-known in our grade level and our students know that persistence and diligence is the key to success!
My grade level is comprised of a fantastic bunch of eager, fun, and dedicated 1st graders!
They are full of personality and each one is different from the next. As a Title 1 school, students who are enrolled here may come from low-income families, and some are homeless. All the adversities of growing up with less do not mean that their education should be. These students deserve the same opportunities as any other child and can turn their hard lives around with a better education.
My Project
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. These are all wonderful subjects to teach and encourage as it is, but allowing students to build, design, and think critically and creatively is so important!
By donating to our project, you will not only provide little ones with opportunities to experience learning with STEAM activities, but you will also be a large part of increasing their academic success.
The magnetic blocks, bristle blocks, brain flakes, construction set, and critical thinking sets will be rotated through stations and morning work and will be used by all students daily. Students can use the magnetic blocks and construction set to defy gravity with their building and create things they may not have had the opportunity to previously. The bristle blocks and brain flakes come in creative shapes that require students to use their imagination to build. Lastly, the two critical thinking sets will be great to inspire students to think outside the box! They will use the many types of blocks and sets to not just learn but have fun learning. The best learning experiences are those when students are having so much fun they don't even know they're doing it!
Interest in STEAM fields are on the rise, and this project will give my class the tools they need to advance in STEAM subject areas.
