Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I campus with 90% of our school's population being economically disadvantaged. My students face many barriers to their success, but they come to school eager to learn and with positive attitudes. They are resilient and hard-working children.
They are fearless when it comes to technology and, as children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their world.
My goal is to pull from their prior knowledge and curiosity by providing materials and activities that will be of high interest to them. In order to do this, I need your help!
My Project
We live in a world where technology has become increasingly important in everyday life. Additionally, knowledge of how to use technological tools is a necessity spanning various career pathways. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to not only teach an array of skills that can prepare my students for their future, but also to broaden their horizons of possible answers to the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
I am requesting the Ozobot Education Kit to teach my students basic coding and expose them to corresponding high interest and engaging STEAM activities.
The bots can be integrated into many different academic lessons across subject areas. The Ozobot Education Kit will include everything that I will need to educate myself on how to use the bots in different lessons, as well as materials needed to get the lessons started right away! Additionally, the bots have the option to be paired with iPads, a resource we already have in the classroom.
