it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Hello and Hola! Our is a Dual Language Immersion School that enriches the lives of two hundred and twenty-five students in both English and Spanish. Our Title One school serves grades K-5. My students are hardworking, fun and creative! They love to learn but we have a wide range when it come to academic levels. Most of my students are from a home that is considered at the poverty level.
My school is one of the highest poverty level schools in my district.
Empowering all students to thrive and achieve within a child-centered, dual immersion community is our school's vision. Our mission is to create a safe, positive environment that nurtures the growth and development of the whole child, empowering them to reach their full potential. We want our students to learn healthy eating habits to nurture their growth.
My Project
My students and I want to create a STEAM space where we can be twenty-first century learners. STEAM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. This is a great opportunity for a space where we can create, collaborate and innovate. Many students learn best through exploration and hands-on activities. These supplies will allow us to explore in different ways, accommodating a variety of learners. We want to stock our space with new things like magnetic tiles, Legos, a Cricut dye-cut machine, stacking cups, math manipulatives and more so we can create in different ways with many different items. Each student has their own interest and with such a variety of supplies available to them to complete tasks, they will truly be twenty-first century learners.
We also want to create a more collaborative space and need new tables and storage to do so.
I want it to be easy for them to create and collaborate together.
Makerspace activities are perfect for experimenting and exploring while learning.
We are very excited about getting our first STEAM space!
