The students at our school represent a culturally and economically diverse group. Many children speak another language at home. Nearly 50% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. We are a Title I school located in a suburb of a major southern city.
Kindergarten students are full of wonder.
The children are excited to create things and learn about how things work. They are able to work together to figure things out and share their thinking with each other.
My Project
I am interested in providing my students with a variety of opportunities to experiment with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math -S.T.E.A.M. Engaging students in these activities will help them to make real-world connections and promote critical thinking. It is important to expose Kindergarten students to these activities in order to provide a creative learning environment.
Incorporating S.T.E.A.M.
activities into our day will afford the students many opportunities to think critically, to create, to communicate, and to collaborate with their peers.
The building materials and kits that I am requesting will foster exploration and imagination. The students would also benefit from hundreds boards, individual magnetic whiteboards, and several items to be used in math centers.
