This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our pre-kindergarten classroom is the only pre-k classroom in our school building which services children up to the 8th grade. It is such a great building to be in because our little ones are preparing for a smooth transition into kindergarten. Many of our children will attend this school up until they are ready to transition into high school.
Our students receive food bags to take home every Friday in order to support our children, as well as their families.
You should see how excited the children are every Friday when they know they get a bag to take home!
Our classroom LOVES to learn and we are always looking for fun and innovative ways to really support the needs of our students! We particularly enjoy the arts, such as music, dance, and dramatic play! Of course we also work hard at developing our literacy, math and science skills!
We want our children to enjoy coming to school each day and really develop their love of learning.
My Project
Pre-k is moving "Full STEAM Ahead" by developing and enhancing skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math! We are super excited about the water blocks! What a great way to explore math, science, and engineering concepts! These would be a great addition to our sensory table...I cannot wait to see what the children design!
During this time of year my children have gained more interest in putting letters together to form words so the Alphabet Stamps would be a fun, creative way for them to develop their curiosity!
The children will be able to "copy" or use invented spelling through art to recreate simple words or even their names!
Another important part of literacy is developing those Pre-Writing skills! The "Create and Design Drill Kit" is something that my students would absolutely LOVE, while also help them to develop important fine-motor skills (hand-eye coordination, develop hand strength), which is imperative to writing! The Snap-Bots would also be fun because my children love robots so this would be a wonderful addition to our small toy area.
The water pitchers would be used during breakfast, lunch, as well as throughout the day to foster our children's independence, while also developing important fine-motor skills!
We are also constantly exploring a variety of life cycles in our classroom so the "hands-on" life cycle figurines will be a great way to really see what each part looks like. We will also be able to compare the similarities and differences between each life cycle, such as frogs, flowers, chickens...just to name a few!
My children love to learn and these materials would really help them to, not only explore their curiosity, but also to develop important skills needed to be well-rounded individuals!
