I teach at a Title I school and many students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the challenges they face, they come to school each day excited to learn!
They are "my kids" and they are the "chosen ones" to be in our class.
I am preparing my students for the 21st century by providing opportunities for communication, collaboration, and creativity. Our classroom is a safe place where learning is fun and children learn at their own pace based on their developmental needs.
Do you remember your First Grade teacher? I bet you do. First grade is a formative year, and such huge strides are made in reading, writing, science, social studies, and math. First graders love learning! They love singing and dancing. They love games and hands-on activities.
My Project
Each morning my students enter our classroom at various times. They put their things away and read or go onto their Chromebook. Many of the students have been through hardships before they even work through the door. They need time to unwind and talk before beginning the day and STEAM morning bins will do the trick.
STEAM bins will not just allow them time to relax and get ready for the day, but they will also be learning and developing 21st Century skills.
They will be using their imaginations, building, creating, and working together. At the same time, without even knowing it, they will be learning using are using science, technology, engineering, art, and math!
The STEAM bins will give my students time to relax and get ready for the new day and to still learn many important skills.
