My students are young and curious. They are 5-6 years old. For many this is their first year of formal school. They come from a wide variety of home situations. Some are special education students, some are ESOL students, and some live in poverty. They may be very different in some ways but they are alike in the most important way. They are loving, kind, and have a love of learning. They love learning and trying new things. They enjoy being active learners. My classroom bustles with the energy of students working together to discover and learn.
My Project
My young students are naturally curious about the world around them. They love to explore, build, solve problems and use their imaginations. The exploration center in my classroom is a favorite place because it allows children to do all of these things. The children love the opportunity to learn and explore with hands-on materials.
The materials in this project will add to a growing collection of STEM materials in my classroom.
They will allow my students to continue to build, create and discover while working together. The vehicle building kit will be the perfect addition to unit on transportation. It will allow children to apply what we are learning in an active way. The maze building kit will be a great addition to our unit on forces where the children explore push, pull and magnets. The Osmo set will be a great addition to the Osmo we have in our classroom. It will bring a creative element to the coding we already do with our Osmo.
These materials will add to our classroom by allowing students to build not only academic skills but also use their imagination and learn the importance of working with others.
