My Students
My "Future Success Stories" range in their ability levels and learning styles. This year I am teaching collaborative classes with a Special Educator. Our students are said to be the low percentile students with specific learning disabilities. 82% of our students are African-American and receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Despite their achievement levels and access to resources, our students are determined and resilient, like their teachers.
They are destined to succeed! Our classroom theme this year is "Greatness Awaits."
My Project
STEAM isn't just about science and math! It can be incorporated into literacy too! What better way to get students engaged in reading than to have them to create or explore based on what they read. For example "The Disappearing Spoon" can lead into students discovering unknown elements or creating a podcast. When the students read "Women of Steel and Stone: 22 Inspirational Architects, Engineers, and Landscape Designers," they may be inspired to design their own models of bridges.
The opportunities are endless!
Having a STEAM library allows for critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity within reading like never before.
