Help me give my students daily opportunities to explore the world through sensory activities and hands on experiences. We need a place to conduct experiments and organize our supplies. Sand and water tables are excellent ways.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
While this year has sadly come to an end earlier than anticipated, I've had time to reflect on this years students, their interests and what I wish I had been able to provide for them before this year had ended. I am so excited to start a new school year in the coming months and to make it an amazing year. Our school is committed to Pre-K students only and located in an almost century old building (est. 1923), in a historic and artistic part of the city.
My goal with this project is to provide them with learning experiences based on exploring, experimenting, teamwork and hands on learning.
It's important to me that kids are excited about coming to school and I want help them fall in love with learning!
As their teacher it is my responsibility to prepare them for kindergarten by teaching them social skills, letter and numerical recognition, fine and gross motor skills as well as how the world operates around them. We have amazing curriculum, but my classroom is lacking in some badly needed sensory activities and a place to do it.
My Project
Everything on the list facilitates skills associated with S.T.E.A.M. Having an area for the kids to able to "get their hands dirty" at, without really getting too dirty, would be a game changer in my room. There is no sand or water outside, so this would be their only exposure, and it might lead to a future archeologist! Storage for our supplies is important, as well, to take care of and organize what we use in the classroom.
Studies have shown that children learn and retain knowledge easier when they can relate information to personal experiences and sensory manipulation.
"Hands on learning" includes digging, building and balancing structures that light up or float or learning how to manipulate water, motion or light. With your donation you will be giving them the resources needed to help build social skills through team building activities, problem solving skills through exploration and experimenting and all while they learn the alphabet and how to count!
