Help me give my students the opportunity to use 3D printing technology in art so that they can explore the endless opportunities of innovation and creativity.
My fifth and sixth grade art students are a unique and diverse mixture of our county. When they arrive at my building, a fifth and sixth grade "center," they begin to discover who they are and what they want to be.
What I love about my students is that they aren't afraid to try new things and push the boundaries of their own art work.
They continue to surprise me with their creativity, ingenuity, and desire to learn both in and outside of the art room. This technology would open up a whole new world for our students as we push STEAM integration in our school.
My Project
I'm excited to bring 3D printing to the art room to help students explore and design with innovative ideas while bringing them to life with code.
Our world is full of technology, and I want my students to have the exposure to programs and equipment that drive the STEAM career paths we have today.
With the use of free programs and apps, students will be able to build, manipulate, and test their designs while working through unit problems. The printer will bring their creation to life as a tangible object that can be used, displayed, or studied.
3D printing will engage those learners who do not feel 'good' at art, but enjoy technology. It will help break down the barriers between technology, art, and science while creating meaningful lessons to solve real world problems.
I am excited to explore this technology with my students and bring 3D printing to our 5th and 6th grade building.
