Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach twenty-two, active and fun-loving second grade students. They come to school eager to learn new things and make the best of each day despite being from a low-income area. They walk into class wanting to know what new project I have in store for them and how it relates to what they're studying. It's so wonderful to see their curiosity and those "aha" moments.
I provide a classroom environment that is geared towards multi-sensory learning and in an atmosphere set for them to excel.
I want to continue to layer their learning with the arts and science, along with the same enthusiasm that they provide me.
My Project
Here's to taking learning to the next level through the arts and sciences. Learning is not just through books, but through experience. I want my kids to love learning and that means meeting them at their level. My space curriculum will allow me to turn my classroom into outer space with the use of the star projector and blackout curtains. I already have a full solar system that will be installed once these supplies are provided. Then, I have my dinosaur unit that will look at prehistoric times, how fossils are created, and how they are still connected to modern day animals. Finally, the art supplies will expose my students to charcoal drawing skills and working with clay.
