My students need 15 copies of the book “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio. Each student will have a copy of the book and will be able to follow along while they listen to the audio.

My Students

My students come from many different backgrounds with several disabilities ranging from learning disabilities to autism. Special education teachers are expected to aid in the growth of reading and writing, even without the necessary tools and resources.

I feel that if my students are provided with a book that they can relate to in terms of appreciating and accepting differences, this will spark an interest for reading and eventually help them become better readers.

I want to ensure that my students have the chance to develop a love for reading, especially since many of them have difficulties with it.

My Project

I have found that reading a book as a class and following along with audio allows my students to fully engage in the novel.

This book will allow my students to gain confidence in themselves and appreciate reading.

I serve students with a variety of disabilities in grades 6th-8th. Many of them struggle with reading. I feel that if this project were to be funded, my students would be given an extra resource to learn how to read and also appreciate books.

Unfortunately, many students in my classroom lack resources like books and school materials, and their families cannot provide this for them.
