My students are a fun group of individuals that want nothing more than to learn in a variety of ways. They want to express themselves in non-traditional methods through a variety of media.
My students want to learn about global issues and communicate their ideas in different ways.
They are keen to learn from as many stories as possible. They want to explore their identities and their world so that they may better navigate it.
The students at my public charter school are a diverse group. They come from all around the country, though many of them were born and raised on the island. This presents challenges as some have had the opportunity to hear diverse perspectives in the real world, while others have not.
My Project
With so many choices in the world of young adult literature, it's important to my students that they have recent and relevant options. Throughout the year, the classroom library has grown and then emptied as students borrow books to engage their imaginations in new and exciting stories.
As the shelves empty, it's important that the bookshelves remain stocked so that students' imaginations and desires to continue reading are kept thriving.
I am humbly requesting these books to add to the classroom library so that my students are continually engaged, excited and eager to learn and read!
