Where would students be without a safe place to go? I'll tell you, they would be exposed to things that you could not even imagine. This is why I teach-to give children a safe place to be where they feel loved and cared for. One of the things I take pride in is my students' respect for each other. Having a classroom community where everyone respects one another is very important.
My students are my joy.
I am very proud to watch them succeed in everything that they do. When you have taught a certain subject over and over again and the child finally "gets it," that's the joy I am talking about.
My students are from a rough background. Having to worry about where your next meal is coming from is very stressful on a family. Some students even act out, due to the uncertainty about what is going on at home. I love to have a classroom that is open and honest, where children can feel safe to grow as a whole child.
My Project
Thank you for considering donating to my project. My students are from an urban city in the western part of Michigan. I am teaching first grade this year and the school I am at is title one. All students recieve 100% free lunch.
I would love for my students to have a snack during the day.
This would help with focusing issues due to the hunger they feel. I would like to give every child the opportunity to have something to eat when they please. The snacks I have chosen to put in my classroom are less sugar than other choices. Please consider donating and help fight hunger.
