This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come to class every day ready to learn, not because of just the strategies and material we cover, but also because they feel welcomed. This year I have worked to build a classroom that reflects and supports my students' social, emotional, and mental health through culturally responsive literature, relationship building, kindness, and encouragement. Part of the way in which I build my classroom's climate and community is through providing snacks and hot cocoa. Since I started my snack and hot cocoa bar I have seen a clear difference in how my students work. Their energy levels are up, their focus is improved, and they collaborate well. Please help me continue to foster a supportive and comforting environment where all learners feel welcomed.
