Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember how excited you were to learn a new language only to loose it years later due to the lack of practice. My goal is to make learning Spanish fun and interactive so they don't loose the language. The kindle fire and Spanish magazines will help me achieve this goal.
My students are from a Title 1 middle school campus in Houston.
The majority are on free or reduced lunch. However, they are eager and excited to take on the challenge of learning a new language. They strive at the challenge of learning Spanish even at such a late start. Most of my students have economic struggles and limited resources, yet they make every effort to be successful in their academic careers. I love seeing their eyes sparkle when they are successful in acquiring new vocabulary/terms in Spanish.
My Project
My students will greatly benefit from the Kindle because this will make learning Spanish fun and interactive. There are so many interactive activities on the Kindle that will motivate my students to learn and retain the new language. The magazines will help them practice the skills they have learned in the classroom. Both of these will help bring the language to life as well as exposing them to current events in the language they are acquiring.
Learning a new language is not an easy task in itself.
By exposing my students to a kindle, and it's numerous activities, will help them learn Spanish in a fun and interactive way. My goal is that my students not only learn the language now, but that they can remember it and use it in the future. Exposing them to current events with the Spanish magazines will also reinforce the skills they are acquiring in the classroom.
