Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students are primarily first year Spanish learners. They often think Mexico as the only Spanish speaking country. One of my biggest challenges is exposing them to other Spanish speaking countries, traditions, and customs.
My school is a Title 1 school in Northeast Houston.
Most of my students come from a low socioeconomic status and are on free and reduced meals. They have not had the opportunity to be exposed to other languages , cultures, or traditions other than their own. As we begin to learn and explore other Spanish speaking countries , they amaze me with how eager they are to learn language and customs of these countries. They take great pride on learning about different countries.
My Project
The students need the ink for printing their research papers, reports, and projects. The dictionaries are used for enhancing their vocabulary development in the Spanish language. The math manipulative's will be used to help as a way to do hands on math with the students in Spanish.
This project will enhance my students learning of the Spanish language.
This will allow my students to print their reports, look up Spanish vocabulary, and have hands on manipulative's with math and the Spanish language. I am hoping at the end of this year that they see how many different countries speak Spanish and learn what makes them special.
