The students in my class are focused, dedicated, and passionate learners. They are eager to learn and share what they know. I love the connection I have with my fourth graders as a community teacher. These students come from a wide range of cultures and speak many different languages.
We are a community of learners who appreciate and respect the differences in cultures and experiences.
We work to make sure everyone has a voice, and feels valued and welcomed.
The school they attend is in the state of Washington. It is culturally diverse, with almost 70% receiving free or reduced-price lunch, and over 30% English language learners.
My Project
The materials and supplies I am asking for is to help my students focus and continue to learn, and not have to worry about getting hungry. The snacks help re-energize and keep their minds ready to learn new concepts throughout the day.
Many of my students come from low-income homes and have limited opportunities for healthy snacks, these snacks will help them focus on learning rather than thinking when is lunch time and their grumbling stomachs.
My students need to learn about healthy eating and making smart snack choices. We will research, discuss, and write about the effect of food and nutrients on our bodies.
