My students need Samsung Galaxy tablets, cases, and a surge protector to improve literacy.

A typical day in my classroom begins with very motivated and eager students who travel from all over the county to participate in the programs offered at our school. I greet my students individually by name and with a smile as they enter. This fosters a warm and engaging learning environment.
My students come from a variety of economic backgrounds.
They have applied to come to this school to participate in the advanced academic curriculum and STEM programs we offer. Our school is a magnet school and our students and teachers are very excited to be a part of this awesome environment!
My students lack necessary 21st Century digital literacy skills. As part of our school wide STEM initiative, I am committed to helping them increase their traditional literacy along with their digital literacy skills. We are a Bring Your Own Device school; however, many students do not have their own devices to bring and that limits what we can do in the classroom each day. My students need Galaxy tablets in order to participate in Accelerated Reading, Moodle Coursework and testing, to complete research for writing assignments, and to have a digital platform in which to compose and develop essays. The Samsung Galaxy tablets will not only help develop their digital literacy skills, but will help reinforce our school-wide STEM initiative through the writing design process. Students will propose plans of writing, design drafts, complete their essays, and will redesign or redraft with improvements. They also need cases and a surge protector.
This project will make a huge difference in the lives of my students because it will place technology in the hands of students who otherwise would not have frequent access to these resources.
We live in a technological world and it is necessary for me to teach them how to write using these devices to ensure their success in future educational and career endeavors.
