This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title I high-impact school. About 95% of our students receive free lunch. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. I want to provide them with the resources and materials needed to close that achievement gap that they may have!
My Project
My students would love the addition of extra snacks such as chips, cookies, and crackers in our classroom. We eat lunch fairly early in the day and by the end of the day, the students are hungry. Some of my students bring in snacks, but the majority do not, and I would love to be able to provide snacks in the classroom for the ones that are not able to bring in a snack from home.
Hunger slows the brain, and I want my students to be the sharpest and brightest students that they can be, so I think these snacks will help fuel their body and mind!
