My students need a new laptop for our FTC robotics team. We currently use an old computer and very much need an upgrade to make the coding process more efficient and effective.
At the HC School, we believe that students thrive in environments where expectations are clear and consistent at all levels, and where students are known — not only by their peers, but by the entire school community. An emphasis on curriculum that places the student at the center of inquiry is the foundation for the school’s four critical learning “cornerstones.” These cornerstones are: rigorous academics, arts literacy, and personal and civic growth.
Through service learning, students bring the community into the classroom and extend the walls of the classroom out into the community.
Service learning offers a way to tie the curriculum to community action. Students at the HC School identify community problems; design, implement, and evaluate action plans; and engage in ongoing personal reflection. Through these experiences, students become active, contributing members of the school community, the city of Hoboken, and beyond. In developing this approach, the HC School has developed relationships with a wide variety of individuals and groups within the Hoboken community.
My Project
HC School's FTC team Roboken, 12806, needs a new laptop to facilitate coding of our robot. This is our rookie season and the team has been performing fantastically. However, we use an old computer to code our robot. The team needs an upgrade.
Roboken is a diverse group of students in grades 7 through 11 who have been working hard all year to learn how to build and code an FTC robot.
A new laptop will make learning Java coding possible. Currently the team is using a Chromebook but they would like to tackle Android Studio. This is not possible with our current set up. They will benefit greatly by having access to a good quality laptop that runs Windows.
