My classroom is unique and fun! I teach English Language Learners in first grade from all over the school district. They spend a full day with me each week and despite only coming once per week, we bond as teacher and student and also make strong friendships. The students are very hard working. They are determined and love being creative with their new found language.
We spend a lot of time working on vocabulary, social language and education language.
They are very respectful and enjoy working together in groups.
My Project
Students in my classroom eat lunch at 12:50. This is very late. A lot of them have eaten breakfast at 7-8:00 am. First graders understand that their lunch is late but about 11:00, the energy level starts falling. They need to have a healthy snack in order to keep learning and sustain them through the lunch hour.
Many students are from homes that do not have the stability to provide their child with a snack from home.
I have been trying to purchase snacks out of my own pocket this year but it has been increasingly difficult with other expenses of my own family. Please help me give these awesome children a much needed snack everyday.
