Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
6th graders are eager to explore technology! I want them to know all that life has to offer. I don't ever want them to feel as though their demographics determine their success. With dreams and perseverance their future is limitless!
My students are 100% free or reduced lunch.
Our school has lockdowns for shootings multiple times a year. Many of my students have faced more trauma in their 11 years of life than I have in my 47. I want them to see that with knowledge and positive experiences their possibilities are endless. Technology is just one of the many tools that can help them be successful.
My Project
STEM learning is taking over our classroom! We have embarked on a journey building and coding basic robots using vex kits. Often times we need additional parts and or accessories to develop their vision from thought to 3-D and a 3-D printer will allow us to do just that! We can use the printer and filament to make replacement parts or to create new parts needed for our robots.
Technology can bring their vision to life!
The use of robotics and 3-D printing in the classroom will tap into a scientific and creative part of their brain like no standard textbook can.
