Walking into my 2nd grade classroom on any given day, you may not notice all of the students doing the same thing, sitting in the same area, or being too quiet.
These curious kids are up to date with technology and we use it in our classroom every day.
The students in class often initiate their own learning, and research projects that interest them. They pair together based on interests and learn to collaborate.
These learners don't always have the best of the best, but we do a lot with the materials we have, while maintaining a positive and helpful attitude.
My Project
Having two Chromebooks in the classroom will give more students access to work on projects for literacy, math, science, and social studies.
They will be able to read and listen to reading of all genres using sites such as: Epic, PebbleGo, and WorldbookOnline to further their learning.
In math, the students will further their learning by engaging in a learning game that is controlled by me, the teacher, and is aligned with what they are currently learning, have learned, or a skill they need practice in. This includes, but it not limited to ProdigyGame.com. It is a great resource for students that parents and teachers can use to structure their child's learning.
In social studies and science the students will be able to research, on a topic that is student driven, but facilitated by me. Once they have learned to do this, the students can share their learning with the class, their parents, and anyone else we deem appropriate.
These Chromebooks are an essential vehicle to carry the second grade students into the future, and will empower them to excel even further!
