Our boys' football and basketball players as well as our girls' basketball players are determined and hard working. They put more into learning the game and developing as players more than most. They are all seventh and eighth graders. They are enthusiastic and energetic. We are in a rural area with no outdoor parks or places to play football or basketball except in the school setting.
They want to become better football and basketball players but do not always have the funds to pay for what they need to improve their skills.
School budgets are spread thin with physical education and athletics the last to receive funding.
My Project
Middle school sports do not receive the funding they deserve each school year. Many people think that ticket sales and concessions go back into the program but this is not always true. Many middle school teams have to find funding in other places.
Our football team and basketball teams can use the tackling dummies in many ways.
First in football, they can be used to teach safe and proper tacking techniques. They can also be used for throw to for quarterback accuracy. In basketball, they can be used during ball-handling drills as well as shooting drills. They are weighted which also means they can be used as defenders in the post during skill develop.
