My 3rd grade classroom is full of energetic students, who are always on the move. They love math centers and working with technology. My students need to be fluent in ALL math facts by the end of the year. The biggest challenge we face is parent support at home.
My school is a Title I school, with at risk students.
Most of my students come from poverty or one parent homes, and don't have access to adequate technology. The 22 students in my classroom are very engaged in learning. They love working in groups and problem solving.
My Project
This project will help students stay engaged in learning math and practice their reading. The tablets will be used to help the students become fluent in their math facts by playing interactive games on-line. Also, we have a research project for science coming up and they need the tools for researching. We will use the tablets during math workshop/center time. They will also have access to them during reading centers to practice at their individual reading level.
This project will help my classroom become more engaging and less paper-pencil.
The students will see technology as a tool to help with learning and not just something they interact with once a week in computer class.
