My students need an adequate supply of nonfiction topic books so they can research the life and techniques of spies for a student-selected unit of study on spies.
Isn't it a great thing when students have a natural thirst for knowledge? My students are full of questions about the reality of spies and need help collecting resources to find answers to their questions.
My classes are full of brilliant leaders of tomorrow.
I teach intellectually gifted students in a public school setting. My classroom is a pull-out program where the students attend my class one day a week. For many of these children, my program is their saving grace; the one place they finally fit in and are allowed to question things. The students are allowed to choose the subject matter and I use these topics as a venue to teach vital skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, personal development, and research.
My Project
With a wide variety of nonfiction topic books, the students will be able to gain an understanding of the field they have chosen. They can put into practice research skills they have learned by proposing research questions and digging for their own answers. The students will learn the satisfaction of organizing research and writing essays based on multiple sources. Students will be able to practice presentation and public speaking methods based on information from these books.
