Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

What did you want to be when you grew up? My students have those dreams, too. Dreams that bring tears to my eyes and inspire me to be the best teacher I can. Unfortunately, my students face hurdles created by circumstances beyond their control that have put them at a disadvantage since before they ever stepped inside a school building.

What my students lack in privilege and resources, they make up for with dreams and drive.

These students deserve so much more than is currently available to them, and I thank you, donors, in advance for believing in their futures.

My Project

Adding a wireless Bluetooth speaker to our writing center will allow me to play classical and meditative music that will establish a calm environment, hopefully blocking out nearby, distracting noises. The storage bins will help organize the different writing materials my students use. And I hope to read "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" to my students to instill a love of books and inspire them to become authors themselves.

I want my students to learn that if they can write it, they can read it, and if they can read it, they can do anything.

Adding these few enhancements to our writing center will help fulfill this goal.
