My students need access to sewing machines & supplies for sewing, knitting, & crocheting so they may follow their interests in textiles in our MakerSpace.
My students spend their time in our library pursuing their passions through the Genius Hour philosophy. We make, program, build, create, invent, fail, try again, and persevere, all in the name of learning.
We are a Kindergarten-5th grade building full of amazing kids who love to learn!
Our students are inquisitive and eager to join in and try out new adventures. A variety of clubs are offered that allow our students to develop or enhance passions they may have. Our staff is amazing and gives of their time by offering the following clubs...Choir Zone, Creative Writing Club, Running Club, Girls on the Run, MakerKid's Club, Page Turner's Book Club, Service Learning Club, Storytelling Club, Blazer Builder's Lego Club, Student Ambassadors, and Student Council.
My Project
Through Genius Hour and our MakerSpace, my students are given many opportunities to learn in different ways that they may not have otherwise had the chance to experience. My students are participatory learners using littlebits, Sphero Robotic Balls, Squishy Circuits, OSMO, Lego's, Snap Circuits, and app and game development. But many of my student's interests lean in a completely different direction...they want to try their hands in the textile and clothing design field. They want to sew, crochet, knit, create collages from different mediums, design clothing lines and more. I am driven to provide the resources for my students and will do all that I can to get them for my school library MakerSpace!
Your donation to our newest area of the MakerSpace would provide opportunities for my students to explore new and existing passions that they have.
Creativity is so important in 21st Century learning, as is collaboration. I see both of those areas being impacted by making the materials from this project available to my students.
