My Project

Our AVID program is committed to developing students who lead with purpose, compassion, and a strong sense of community.

Next school year, our AVID students will be working alongside our Mentor Club to carry out two meaningful community service projects that will make a direct and lasting impact.

The first project focuses on welcoming new students who enroll after the school year has already begun. Transitioning into a new school can be overwhelming, especially for middle school students. Our AVID students, in partnership with the Mentor Club, will create “New Student Welcome Bags” to help ease this transition. Each bag will be personally decorated with markers and stickers, making every item unique and inviting. Inside, students will include a small notebook, a welcome pencil, and a handwritten note card filled with encouraging messages. This project supports new students socially and emotionally while allowing AVID students to practice empathy, creativity, and leadership.

The second project centers on building connections with senior citizens in our community. Throughout the year—during the fall season, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter—students will work together to design and create heartfelt cards for local nursing homes. Using cardstock, markers, and art supplies, they will craft messages of kindness and encouragement. These cards will be hand-delivered, giving students the opportunity to connect with and uplift residents who may feel isolated or forgotten.

We are requesting donations to provide the materials needed for both projects, including bags, notebooks, pencils, cardstock, markers, and decorative supplies. These resources will empower our students to serve others in meaningful ways while developing essential life skills.

With your support, our AVID students and Mentor Club members will not only complete community service hours, but also create genuine moments of connection, kindness, and belonging within our school and local community.
