My Students
I am about to start my 4th year of teaching at a new district! I will be teaching at an urban, Title I school where over 90% of students come from low-income households. The school shut down due to COVID-19. Since the shutdown, federal funding continues to provide free meals daily to my students, but I am now tasked with the challenge of continuing to provide high-quality instruction to students from a very small workspace at home. Beyond that, many of my school's students lack the necessary supplies at home and devices to make learning equitable. Additionally, many parents work and are away from their homes working, therefore limiting the academic support they can provide.
My Project
Our students are creative, silly, and love to try new things! However, most of our students are below grade level in both reading and math due to the COVID-19 slide. As a fifth-grade team, we are gearing up for virtual learning to help overcome any deficits to help our students' abilities soar! With the document camera, pulling small groups to give closer instruction will be clearer now, the sticky paper will be used for anchor charts in the background, earbuds to hear each other better, and an overall closer feeling as if we are sitting right across from one anotherl
