Help me give my students the opportunity to raise salmon in our classroom and return them back to their natural habitat. The Aquachiller will keep the water in our Aqueon Aquarium the perfect temperature to raise the eggs!
My class is filled with hard working students who love to learn. They are talented and very inquisitive about the world they live in. Many of my students have never had the opportunity to visit the river or see animals in nature. They love to learn about their world and having a live example of life in the river will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for them.
They are excited to work on a project that will not only answer some of their questions but also participate in an activity that will better the world they live in.
My Project
Watching eggs transform into fish is an opportunity most students never get to watch. The Aqueon Aquarium will provide my students with that opportunity. Once the eggs arrive, students will be responsible for monitoring the water temperature using the Active Aqua Chiller, foam insulation, and AODE water probe to make sure our eggs have the consistent cold water that they need to mature before our eyes. The Penn Plex underground filter and AquaClear powerhead will keep the water moving and clean as if the eggs were still in the river, giving them the best chance of survival.
In addition to watching the eggs change into fry, students will learn about our environmental impact on salmon and the impact salmon have on our community.
Once the Salmon have matured into fry, students will release them back into the wild so they can continue their journey through life.
