Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was like when your teacher said you could read on the carpet? It was my favorite time of the day when we had a moment to silently read on the floor or at the circle rug. I would love for my students to be able to have this advantage too.
My students are mostly low to medium class.
They do not have a lot at home most of the time. I have students ranging from that own iPads to those that do not even had a computer at home. My students are amazing those that like to sit around the room and read. I will have 3 different classes this year. I have improvised and been able to turn chairs over or let them read under their desks, but I know a classroom rug would be amazing!
My Project
I am so excited for the chance to be able to give my students a place for us all to come together and learn on the ground. We will be able to stretch our legs and do something different. Desks are great, but I know it's great to get up and move to a different spot sometimes. I want to help them become readers with stamina, and I think being able to read about the room or on a nice, new rug would help them want to read. Thanks!
Some of my students come from nothing.
Some of them probably no not even have a rug in their home, so this could be a very BIG change for them. I hope that you can see how much this would mean to my fourth graders. I would love to have everyone in tight area learning together. My ELL children that I love doing small group with would love to have this area to work on books with me that do not understand. Thank you from me and my fourth graders for you time!
