This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Technology is a big push in today's education; the issue is the availability and access to technology for students. My goal is to provide students, no matter socioeconomic background nor race, with a high-quality educational experience. With technology, I can do that.
I have two classes with 20 students in each one.
Each class is evenly split; there are 10 boys and 10 girls in each class. They love learning, especially math, and they thoroughly enjoy reading. My students love to participate in the learning process, making teaching very fun and exciting.
My school is a Title 1 school, which means majority of the student population receive free or reduced lunch. Technology is a big push this year, more so than usual.
My Project
Technology is a very important in the learning process of students. As a 4th grade mathematics teacher, I am diligent in implementing math rotations during my math instruction. Students receive small group instruction, as well as participate in other objective-specific activities in other "centers".
This particular project will allow me to engage my students in a technology-driven center on a daily basis by adding six Chromebooks to our room. During this particular rotation, students will complete the task that I have assigned on a standards-based website (Study Island).
The Digital Age Students that sit my classroom today will be highly engaged in the instruction with the addition of six Chromebooks.
Motivation to complete math assignments, those that are technology-based, will no longer be an issue. Secondly, students will be able to complete the tasks on high-quality pieces of technology.
