The Advance Graphic Design course is designed to develop and reinforce basic skills learned in the introductory course through the use of applied design projects. Student learning experiences are guided through the use of authentic projects that require students to be highly creative.
Students create culminating projects that require them to interact with clients and collaborate with group members similar to what they would experience if they were working for a professional design firm.
Students learn the importance of networking by becoming involved in professional affiliations and working on community-based projects. In order to help the authenticity of their projects, I would like to purchase a paper folding machine for students to use. This piece of equipment will help my students further achieve the CTE standards.
My Project
Students continue to apply artistic principles of balance, contrast, unity, rhythm, emphasis, variety, negative space, metamorphosis, and more. Students use traditional hand drawing, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and In-Design to solve design problems and create original artistic compositions to prove their artistic competence.
A Paper Folding Machine help students have the ability to create and produce a professional brochure or program. A paper folding machine that can create all the most common fold types, such as letter (C folds), accordion folds (Z fold) and many others. It can also be programmed for custom folds.
I am currently expanding and changing the direction of my program by having students execute more authentic assignments for the school and community.
The greatest challenge in creating and producing programs for groups is not the creation of professional looking programs, but being able to do the finishing aspects. Without a folding machine we cannot offer a concise fold as a basic service to our customers.
