Help me give my students a chance to experiment and understand Diffraction, Interference, Lenz's Law and many more abstract concepts that are hard to make sense of in real life.
It is hard to consider what I do as a job because it is truly a part of who I am. People always say to me, "Those kids are lucky to have you," but, I'm the lucky one.
I live for that AHA!
moment when my students first understand a new concept or see how the lesson applies directly to their lives. I love it when students see improvement or when they are able to struggle through to mastery. Interacting with interested and intelligent students makes them special. It both expands their repertoire of knowledge, insights, and skills and also broadens my perspective as I learn from their ideas and experience. Such interaction also makes my students and me aware of generational differences and induces respect for each other's experiences.
My students are curious, brave and inspire me every day. They are special because they are endearing, they humble me, they make me laugh, they teach me things and thus make me a better person!
My Project
Theory and research suggest that meaningful learning is possible in laboratory activities if all students are provided with opportunities to manipulate equipment and materials while working cooperatively with peers in an environment in which they are free to pursue solutions to problems that interest them.
Many concepts in Physics are abstract and cannot easily be visualized or experienced in real life and thus become hard to grasp and comprehend by students.
This is where the power of this lab equipment that I would like to purchase comes in. Once our classroom has these supplies, students will be able to meaningfully interact with the equipment to make sense of abstract ideas! Diffraction, Interference, Lenz;s Law and Magnetic Field are some examples of topics that this equipment will help bring clarity to!
