This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are imaginative and creative. They want every opportunity to learn new things. Unfortunately, a lot of my students' parents has very little money. The school is a Title I school.
They love to learn by doing hands-on activities and experience things they don't get to do at home.
They learn best by seeing and touching real things instead of always learning from a book. This makes learning fun for them. When learning is fun, they learn so much more.
My Project
In the second grade Science curriculum, my students must learn what a life cycle is and describe the life cycle of different animals. Frogs are one of the life cycles my students must describe.
My students learn better by doing and seeing, than by sitting and listening.
The products I am asking for will do just that. My students will be able to experience observing tadpoles turning into frogs. They will record their observations in their journals. They will also feed them and read about them, using these resources.
My students experience, through 4H, a chick's life cycle. This year we can't afford to buy tadpoles and the materials to go with it, because of Title 1 funds going to mostly more staff. I try to give my students as many hands-on experiences as possible. Taking care of a tadpole/frog also teaches them responsibility as well as make Science fun.
