Help me give my students a real dissection experience. This set of 24 frogs will be enough for all of our 96 current 9th graders to be able to dissect a frog in groups of 4.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is the first "unscreened" Early College HS in NYC. Students who go on into our Early College program can earn a no-cost Associate's Degree in Engineering, Architectural Technology or Construction Management/ Civil Engineering.
Through the hard work and dedication of a small staff, we prepare these students to be career and college ready.
Our students are economically disadvantaged and most often do not start with the necessary skills to be successful, but we have shown success through several years of students graduating from our school with both their high school diploma and Associate's Degree.
My Project
It would be wonderful to offer our students the opportunity to conduct a real old-school frog dissection. The things the students learn about body systems and organs during the dissection activity are super important to passing the New York State Living Environment Regents.
In this day and age so much of the learning is done on the computer, but there are some things in biology that need to be experienced in real life.
The science curriculum talks about the connection between the organ systems and what better way to learn about how the organs are connected than to have to take them apart!
