Have you ever had a job that made you laugh every day? Well, my students create this type of environment for me on a daily basis! We work together and get so much accomplished because of their determination to learn new things on a daily basis. What I see in my students is a group of young people willing to help each other succeed and genuinely care for one another not in just their academics, but also with their social skills.
Even though I am the teacher, my students teach me things on a daily basis!
I have learned how to do the latest dance moves with them trying not to show their amusement. They have also taught me that there is still innocence and honest hard-working values that are intrinsically instilled in people today.
I love being a teacher and I could not have this passion for my career if it wasn't for the love of my students and the genuine respect that is shared both ways!
Our class finished reading Frindle by Andrew Clements and even my most reluctant readers were so engaged in this book.
I know that receiving one as a gift will bring the joy of reading to my students that would not be able to have this book as their own.
The excitement I have seen during the read aloud of Frindle has encouraged my students to want to read more and I know that they will cherish this book and continue to want to read more from this author.
Helping foster the love of reading will improve their academics and become a lifelong positive trait that will continue long after they leave my classroom!
