My students come into the classroom eager to learn and ready for someone to listen and guide them. Many students are upset when we have snow days because they miss the school environment that we create. They know our school is a safe place to grow and mature.
Our entire school has free meals due to the large number of students who qualify for free federal meals.
We also have many who take small backpacks of food home to share.
The amazing students in our school have very limited resources but have friendships that support and encourage one another. As they move onto high school, they need a way to cherish the time they had together in middle school.
Using writing skills and artistic creativity, students will create a way to cherish their childhood.
They will use pictures and memories from the year to create a scrapbook in order to remember the fun and friendships they had in the eighth grade. This will allow students who rarely have photographs to have a long term way to remember their closest friends.
