This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"It's time for recess. What do you want to do? Walking around again? No! Let's play a game of basketball! Go gather a bunch of your classmates!"

Our students attend a public school in one of the largest school districts in the country.

Our population of students is very diverse in every sense of the word. They are from all walks of life with many currently facing extremely challenging circumstances. My goal is to ensure that students look forward to coming to school to learn, and have fun.

My Project

Our schools' enclosed playground currently has the regulation lines for a complete basketball court. Ironically, the only thing that's missing is a basketball system. Aside from the obvious benefits of promoting health and fitness, a basketball system would promote teamwork, friendship, and create a sense of community among a very culturally diverse and economically challenged population of students.

This project is important for the physical and social development for students during recess in our enclosed playground.

Students would be able to play together, as opposed to spending the time sitting or standing around doing something not so productive. It would help our school create a fun and enriching environment.
