My students need literacy materials such as the Reading Comprehension and Prefixes & Suffixes Bingos, Partner Scripts and Practice Cards to use in small groups and partner work to make words come to life and build a lifelong love of reading.
We are a diverse neighborhood school with almost 300 students. Because of our small size, teachers and staff are able to connect with and value each child as an individual and base our instruction on their needs and interests. Our students love to learn about the world around them and enjoy nonfiction texts in small group and partner reading settings. Working together is their favorite way to learn and grow. We truly are a small school with a big heart!
My Project
These materials will encourage the students to read together and discuss the texts they share. Many students prefer partner and small group activities compared to working alone, especially those students who are struggling with literacy. With these materials, reading will become a desirable activity that students can make students feel confident and excited about literature, whether they are working with a teacher, paraprofessional, or with other students in a small group or partner setting.
Students will love tackling the reader's theater scripts, word bingos, and comprehension challenges together.
They are huge fans of learning games and love a good competitive game. Right now, many of our resources are teacher driven or individually based. We would like to receive these materials to improve student discourse and build excitement around literacy.
