Our school represents a large variety of students from various countries all over the world. One hundred percent of the students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch, and we are a school-wide recipient of Title I funds.
Want to know one of my favorite parts of my job?
I love seeing the change that students undergo over the course of the year. I am fortunate enough to see kids develop ways to express kindness each and every day. They use manners that weren't present in August. I have seen students who loathe reading turn into book lovers. Few things make me smile like seeing my kids pull out a book when they have an extra few minutes. My classroom is full of faces and personalities that will impact our future world. As a teacher, I believe it is my job to do everything I can to make sure that impact will be a positive impact!
My Project
My students need vinyl with glitter and over 20 t-shirts and Sharpies to make our class field day t-shirts. These materials will go to make matching Field Day t-shirts of each student in my class. Each year, I make these for my class. The red glitter will state "TEAM DAILEY" and the black will be used for a front design. You can see in one of my DonorsChoose.org profile photo some kids with shirts from this same event, another year!
They serve as a way to build team spirit during the day but also as a souvenir memory.
Students will autograph each other's shirts throughout the day with sharpies. These shirts are quick to become a favorite. It is great to see students even in fifth grade still wearing their fourth grade shirt.
