My students need access to fresh technology to continue growing with the 21st century.

My kids are social butterflies that float into my classroom each morning with a smile on their faces and a story to share. They love having chances to work together during centers or sharing their thoughts on the carpet. They encourage each other to succeed during reading practices and stand tall with their own accomplishments.
My students live in a military town where while their friends may come and go, their memories and experiences last a life time.
Our school loses and gains friends each year as students move around the country. We currently have at least 400 students with a variety of backgrounds. As each student comes and goes from our school they show our pride with each step they take.
My students are always hungry for a chance to learn and to explore. We use technology in a variety of ways, from the smartboard during math, to laptops for centers, and to recordings on tablets for the students who need the story read to them at their own pace. Our school's population is growing each year and with all the grade levels needing some form of technology there's not always enough fresh C.O.W.s (computers on wheels) to go around.
My classroom needs its own set to feed its growing minds.
A class set of Amazon Fire Tablets with casings will allow more students to have access to the apps and other functions they need to help them learn. Right now we only have access to 1 tablet on a regular bases. We use the tablet in the classroom to scan QR codes during centers. Students love being able to check their own answers or trying to solve a QR code math scavenger hunt. During reading, students who struggle with reading independently, listen to a recording of the story on the tablet. There are a ton more things we use the tablet for, but due to the fact that there is only 1, only a few students get to use it each day.
Our school is in a low income area, so not too many students have access to the forms of technology they need to be familiar with in the 21st century. The only place most of them have access is at school. My goal is to help them get the exposure they need to be comfortable and confident with whatever tech they come across. Early exposure will help insure future success when applying for a job or college.
