Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a general education teacher in a kindergarten ICT co-taught classroom. My co-teacher and I are getting to know our 21 energetic five-year-olds who have begun to settle in with a wide range of knowledge and skills. For many of our students, kindergarten is their first time learning in a formal setting, and we would like to have a wide range of learning opportunities for our different learners!
My students are creative, hands-on, and multi-sensory learners.
We hope to provide children with different methods of learning that we hope to hone in on and encourage. With 21 individualized learners, my co-teacher and I work to satisfy all levels of development and encourage building on prior skills in our classroom, no matter where the child is!
My Project
To start out our year on the right foot, we will need a fresh start and all new supplies! In addition to keeping our classroom clean and germ-free, I would like for all of my students to have brand new writing tools, new folders to carry their things to and from school, and new baskets and supplies for the classroom.
With a Montessori background, I would like my classroom to be visually peaceful and calming for the new students including all of the items they use every day!
I believe that a fresh start every year allows children to start on the right foot and shows the children how important it is to be set up for success in their classroom.
With this money, I will be able to supply new folders for the children's work, new baskets to hold their toys, new supplies for an art center including scissors, glue, pencils and crayons, and some flexible seating for children to have some choices on where to sit. It will also provide beginning of year provisions such as tissues and all natural cleaning products!
Whether it is new cleaning supplies, new crayons, or new folders, children will see their worth and the importance of starting off on the right foot.
