My Students

Every day my first graders try to build their reading muscles by reading, reading, reading. Sadly, the books in our classroom library have been read so often that they are in very bad condition. Each day, the students come to me with damaged books that have been torn or have pages falling out.

Our school is part of a small school district in southeastern Michigan.

The students in my class are excited to come to school and eager to learn. Many of my students come from homes where it is sometimes challenging to provide everything that the children need.

My Project

I can't wait to see my first graders as they open their new books and see the fresh, glossy pages. They will be thrilled to have beautiful new books to read from each day. They will be so excited to share their new books with each other during their independent and partner reading time.

Having brand new books to read from each day will motivate these young learners to read even more.

The more they read, the better they will read. Beautiful new books are essential.
