Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the best. I teach in a rural school, which is a Title I school. Many of my students have had limited exposures to literacy in their lives.
Most of my class qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch.
English is the second language for a majority of my class. These student are so eager to learn and absorb new learning like a sponge. The parents of my students want the very best for their children and are very encouraging and supportive.
My Project
The supplies in our room have gotten well used this year. Since the coronovirus has put a halt on learning at school, I sent all the kids home with crayons and my scissors. I realized what bad shape many of our supplies were in when I started bagging them up! I hope that they will return these things, but I know that many may not.
In these uncertain times, and not knowing when we will go back, it will be nice for my students to have a fresh start when we return!
All students will start with new crayons and new scissors that cut well. We also use the Pen Pals to keep our pencils from rolling off the tables.
