Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in the heart of SE at Washington, DC's First Public School for Girls! My black and brown girls are extra special in their own individual way. Each of them possesses qualities that allows them to be bold, courageous, and beautifully spirited. Most of them come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their community. Our school provides a rigorous education that is needed in today's society. This will help their individual learning needs to ensure that they are well prepared academically, socially and emotionally, in order to be productive competitors in the twenty-first century.

My Project

Due to COVID-19, our classroom will look and feel different this school year. Although there are many pollutants and other germs that can contaminate our classroom space, this school year we must take extreme precautions in order to ensure the air we breathe is clean and is continuously kept clean.

This Fellowes AeraMax True HEPA Tower Air Purifier and filters will replenish the flow of air to provide a much cleaner and healthier environment for students and myself, leaving parents with a sense of relief.

This air purifier removes allergens and airborne contaminants like dust, mold, and bacteria. In addition, the True HEPA filters comes with an antimicrobial treatment, eliminating up to 99.97% of particles, including the flu virus. As we continue to prepare to return into the school building in a safe manner, this air purifier will definitely alleviate some concerns when reopening strong.
