Free Voluntary Reading! A Spanish Library In The Language Classroom
Help me give my students a full library with Spanish readers that are comprehensible and written to help them at each level! The display will help the students be more organized too!
My students are in an urban setting where resources are not plenty, but we are always trying to find ways to keep students engaged. They are learning Spanish as a second language and they are not very confident about speaking nor writing in the target language because they have not been exposed to a lot of input before.
These students love reading stories that are comprehensible to them, and that they feel connected with.
My students are hungry to read and learn more in Spanish about topics they are passionate or just curious about. The love creating crazy stories in Spanish, but they need more input, more reading, so they can be better writers too.
My Project
These books that are designed for students learning Spanish as a second language and that include topics interesting to students of all ages, will give them tons of comprehensible input in the target language. Having all this motivating input will help students become more confident speakers and writers in the Spanish language.
We all know that the best way to be better writers is to read more, so having a Spanish library built with leveled and comprehensible readers is necessary to create better Spanish writers.
Students will be able to come to class and read their book for 5-10 minutes, motivated to read in Spanish by the variety of topics and the comprehensibility of the texts. Then, we will have discussions about their reading and interesting topics to write about!
